DEPARTMENT AT A GLANCE
uThe Department of English came into existence with the College. The dire need for a women's college in the Steel City Bhilai resulted in the establishment of Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalaya and improving the level of English language in the province pave the path for the establishment of the department.
u Primarily started with just an English Language program today the department has added another feather to its cap with the introduction of a Literature program at the undergraduate level from the session 2020-2021

STRENGTH
- Being one of the reputed colleges; the college always remains a favorite among students during admissions.
- Women’s safety is a priority in the college
- Huge library for both language and literature students.
- Workshop and seminars are organized for students’ exposure to new trends and ways.
WEAKNESS
- Literature courses were introduced recently and thus have the lowest number of admissions.
- Departmental activities are limited as the English Language is only part of the Foundation course.
OPPORTUNITIES
- With the introduction of literature skits and poetry sessions can be organized at the graduation level.
- Literature and language students can be involved in many ways.
- Students are sincere and hardworking and thus results were often satisfactory from the professor’s point of view.
